Profile: From a very young age I have always had a love of knives and started collecting mostly factory knives. After reading an article about the first Knife Makers Guild show, held in Johannesburg, I decided that I would like to try my hand at making one for myself.

In 1982 under the guidance of Billy Kojetin (BillyK) I started making my first knife and since then I have been unable to stop myself. On the 16 January 1995 I became a member of the Knife Makers Guild of Southern Africa.

I enjoy making any type of knife from hunters and skinners to fighting knives, display daggers and folding knives. I also enjoy making miniature knives and find them to be very challenging. I only use Damascus for the blades and Mammoth ivory, warthog ivory or Mother of Pearl for the handles of the miniatures.

I mainly use Bohler N690 (440C) and Damascus for my blades with stainless steel or titanium being used for the bolsters or guards. A wide variety of local and imported hard woods and natural materials (eg. Mammoth Ivory, Mother of Pearl and warthog ivory) are used for the handles.
